The Club received the Charter on 8 January 1973 when there were 25 Charter members. Membership profile of our club includes many different vocations in varied fields of business and professions, and strength of our club usually remained above 90 during the past decade.

Our Club has been in the forefront in rendering service to the community through different avenues. Apart from sustained emphasis on cordiality and fellowship among our members the thrust areas of our programs and projects are Education, Rural Schemes, All aspects of Health, Service to Handicapped, Promotion of Art & Culture, Child Welfare, Youth Activities, Empowerment of Women, Care for the Aged and so on. We also excel in the schemes stipulated by our Rotary District as well as Rotary International from time to time. We promote and foster Inner Wheel, RCC, Rotaract and Interact who are partners in service to Rotary. Our forte in the field of education is Rotary West School, which from a humble beginning with Nursery level in 1985 has now developed into a full fledged High school up to X standard excelling in all academic matters. Another School is functioning at Kanakadasanagara. Rotary West has two other jewels in its crown namely Rotary West Institute for Mother and Deaf Children, one of its kind in Asia, where children born with hearing defect are admitted and trained along with their mothers. The third is Paul Harris Vocational Training Institute for Disabled which is also one of its kind in Mysore under Rotary banner.

Rotary West has been in the lime light as one of the leading clubs in RI Dist 3180. During the past 28 Years our club had bagged the Best Club Award for 14 times and secured Second position in 8 assessment years for District Awards. Our Club has the distinction of having on its strength 4 Past District Governors as active members. We also have 2 members who had the privilege of being the leaders for GSE Team.
