Rtn. Reginald Wesley
Rtn. Reginald Wesley is the president of Rotary Club of Mysore West for the year 2019-20. He is a native of Mysore, born on 19 April 1953. His parents , Prof B.C. Wesley and Prof Lalitha Kumari Wesley, were both professors of English. He did his graduation from Maharaja’s College (1970-73) and post-graduation in English Literature from Manasa Gangothri (1973-75). He was selected by the UPSC as a Class-1 officer for the Central Police Services in 1976. After his initial training of one year in the Internal Security Academy, Mount Abu (Rajasthan) he was posted in Sikkim and thereafter in Mizoram. Later he was posted as a member of the teaching faculty in the Internal Security Academy, Mount Abu. Thereafter he was posted in Trivandrum and Delhi. He was posted in the Special Cell of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi looking after the deployment of the Central forces for public order and internal security duties. In 1993 he was selected on deputation to the elite Special Protection Group (SPG) which is charged with the security of the Prime Minister of India. He was involved in providing close protection to four Prime Ministers upto 2003. He was awarded the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 1997 and is also the recipient of several other police medals. While in the SPG he travelled widely both in the country and abroad in connection with the Prime Ministers tours. In 2003 he took Voluntary Retirement after 27 years of service in the Central Govt. and was appointed as Chief Vigilance Officer of the two Power Distribution Companies in Delhi of the Reliance ADAG. Though he retired from active service in April 2014 he continues to work as a Consultant to Reliance Infrastructure, ADAG, Mumbai. His wife Shashi Wesley is a home maker. They have two daughters : Trupti, a hotelier in Goa and Kruti, a dance and yoga teacher in Mumbai.
